The Oswego Country Club’s annual Stableford Tournament will be held on Saturday, October 15. The 2-man Best-Ball event will feature two flights, the Championship Flight (blue tees) for teams with a combined handicap of less than 20, and the First Flight (white tees) for teams with a combined handicap of 20 or more. Tee times will be from 10 AM to 1 PM and the field is limited to the first 38 teams to apply. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, October 12.
The 2011 Adult-Child event at Oswego Country Club drew 18 teams for the modified alternate shot formatted 9-hole event on Saturday, September 17. Chris and Sean
Dain recorded a 35 to capture the third flight championship, three shots clear of Paul and Alec Kunzwiler. Jaime and Bruce Hourigan and Tom and Jameson Simmonds each shot 44 in the second flight with the Hourigan pair winning the tie-breaker. Tom and Neil Roman shot a 50 to win the first flight championship.
Bellevue Country Club’s Kevin VandenBerg fired a final round 66 Sunday at Oswego Country Clubto win the 2011 Labatt Invitational by three strokes over fellow Bellevue member Bill Moore. VandenBerg shot a two day total of 141 (1 under) to capture the Championship Flight. Moore shot 72-72 (144) to finish one stroke ahead of Oswego’s Tom Roman who shot 77-68. Roman finished one stroke ahead of Oswego’s Joe Babcock (74-72, 146). VandenBerg began the second round five shots out of the lead held by Phil Tripoli, who fired an opening round 70 to lead by two strokes over Moore after Day 1.
For the fifth consecutive year our friends at Eagle Beverage and Labatt Blue will sponsor The Labatt Invitational at Oswego Country Club. The Labatt Invitational will take
place Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11 with 10 AM-1:30 PM tee
times. The 36-hole event is a medal play format with skins and sweeps games each day.
The field is limited to the first 66 entries and is open to all golfers; you need not be an OCC Member to participate.
The 2011 OCC Margaritaville took place Saturday, August 27. Team Patka (Jim & Nancy Patka and Ken & Linda Sturgess) won the front side competition, while Team Huckabee (Jim & Diane Huckabee and Bob & Christine Holmes) won the back side event. Doug Hudson captured the best dressed golfer and best cart design…guess he was really into it!
